Therapy for Women

Treatment based in New York City

Daughter. Sister. Friend. Girlfriend. Student. Professional.Teacher. Mother. Advocate. Adventurer. Women are expected to take on so many different roles, and as we age, we grow into many intersecting identities. We can feel crushing pressure to meet our commitments, exceed expectations, and ‘do it all’ perfectly. It can feel soul crushing to integrate all of the hats we wear into one woman who is truly living a balanced and fulfilling life.

It’s all too common for some of us to have sought support from family, friends, or even a therapist, and to leave feeling unseen, misunderstood, or less than. For some, feeling this way can create or contribute to a cycle of shame. We may come to believe that there is something wrong with us, or these experiences may reinforce an existing narrative of self-blame and unworthiness.

I love nothing more than helping women to become agents of change and growth in their own lives. I work with women who have checked all the boxes and are left wondering why they don’t feel fulfilled or connected with themselves or others. I work with ambitious women who feel stuck, women who doubt themselves, or those who feel empty, conflicted, or just plain tired. I work with women who feel like they are being pulled in a thousand different directions, or who feel ‘spread too thin’. Women who want more from their lives and don’t know what “more” looks like, or who do, but don’t know how to get there.

From the perils of dating and relationships, to school and career struggles, to combating trauma, family dysfunction, grief, or anything in between, I am here to help you forge a path toward living your best and brightest life, even in your darkest moments.

I am here for:

  • Women in high stress careers or demanding corporate environments

  • People pleasers

  • Perfectionists and over achievers

  • College students and young adult women

  • Moms

  • Survivors

  • Creatives

Therapy for Women at Align Therapy Services can help you:

  • Attune to and validate your needs, and find ways to get your needs met

  • Build self-trust to pave the way for vulnerability that will empower you to deepen your relationships with  yourself and others

  • Unpack and rewire internal dialogues that result in fear and self-sabotage

  • Cultivate inner strength and security grounded in your worth, which is unconditional, rather than in external markers or others’ perceptions

  • Process and heal from trauma responses stemming from specific events, experiences in childhood and adolescence, and  damaging relationships

Your Relationship with Yourself

How do you relate to yourself, your emotional world, and your self-worth? As women, we often find ourselves under inordinate pressure to achieve some form of both perfection and balance. The pressures we face in our daily lives are often characterized by double standards or conflict with putting ourselves and our needs first.

What (or who) does your inner voice sound like? Are you contending with an ever-critical or self-blaming inner monologue? Does your self-worth or value stem from who you are as a person, or do you feel as though you are constantly chasing the next thing that will finally make you feel like you are ‘enough’?

As a therapist for women, I  help women explore what their inner dialogues sound like and why. Do you feel overcome, frightened, or ashamed of your feelings, or do you try to avoid emotions at all cost, because who has time for those?

I am here for women who struggle with setting boundaries. For women who prioritize everyone else’s needs over their own,  people-pleasers,  and those who experience decision paralysis or often feel compelled to seek reassurance or validation from others.

I am here for women who doubt or second-guess themselves and women who find themselves strategizing or playing games in dating or relationships. I am here for women who feel less than or ‘othered’ in their relationships, or who feel like imposters or frauds at work or at home.

How Therapy for Women in NYC can help you:

I take the stance that your current ways of coping with negative thoughts and painful feelings are markers of resilience and adaptability that make perfect sense in the context of your unique experiences and history. It is only when we begin to make meaning of how we relate to ourselves and the world around us that we can begin to develop self-compassion and build our self-worth.

Our brains, bodies, and hearts have an incredible capacity to rewire, heal, and grow. This is where I come in. I act as a guide and support system to help the women I work with get to know themselves better and connect with their authentic needs, goals, and values. I use a collaborative, strength-based approach grounded in compassion to help my clients navigate current struggles, heal from past wounds, and overcome barriers that stand between them and their best lives.

At our cores, we are relational beings. Therapy for women at Align Therapy Services will help you better understand patterns in your relationships and establish boundaries and communication skills that support you in strengthening existing connections that serve you well, and forging new relationships that are healthy, secure, and meaningful.
